Learning at Grace

Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.
1 Tim. 4:16
In 2 Timothy 3:14–17, Paul encourages Timothy by saying…

“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

We believe this encouragement is true for all of us today, too. We are to continue in what we have learned. This isn’t a journey that ends. From the day we are born again in Christ to the day we die, we are to continue in what we have learned and believed, growing in our faith and pressing on “toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

The primary way in which we do this is by immersing ourselves in the Scriptures, which have been breathed out by God. As Paul says, they are “profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in  righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

Our goal here at Grace is to introduce people to Jesus, and then help them grow up to maturity in Him together. This is how we do it…

Our Learning Environments

Sunday Mornings

Worship Service - 10:30am
Our main gathering of the church each week is a God-centered time of corporate worship focused on:
Corporate praise through singing
Corporate prayer
The public reading of Scripture
Verse-by-verse expositional preaching

Though we occasionally feature topical sermons, our primary method of preaching is verse-by-verse expositional preaching through portions or whole books of the Bible. This furthers our understanding of God’s Word by considering the context, theme and flow of each book. This also helps us learn how to read the Bible for right interpretation and understanding. We also seek to understand the difference God’s Word makes in each of our daily lives.

Sunday School - 9:00am

Classes for all ages, toddlers to adults, help us grow together in our knowledge of God and His Word and develop into maturity. Our adult classes center on God and His Word, with an emphasis on understanding how our faith relates to everyday life’s circumstances. Classes vary throughout the year.

Current Children's Sunday School Classes
Classes for children ages 3 through 5th grade use The Gospel Project curriculum which walks our young people chronologically through the Bible in a way "that helps all ages dive deep into the big story of the Bible—God’s plan to rescue His people through His Son, Jesus Christ."

Current Jr. High-Adult Sunday School Classes (Fall, 2024)

Knowing the Living God
God is more incredible and complex than we can understand and yet He invites us to know Him deeply and personally and has clearly revealed Himself to us.  One of the ways we can know God more is by studying His attributes - specific aspects of His character/nature.  Join us as we explore God's holiness, eternality, self-sufficiency, love, etc. in a way that helps you love and live for Him more.  Note: this class will be taught in a way that is geared towards believers of all ages, including our middle and high school students.
(Location: Upper Fellowship Room)

Introduction to the Christian Home (Marriage, family, and parenting)
As believers in the Lord Jesus, we have a unique opportunity to shape and structure our families in a way that reflects our relationship with Him.  In this class we’ll explore how knowing and living for Jesus ought to affect our marriages, our parenting, and the overall tone of our homes.

An Infinite Journey - Fall, 2024
In his book, “An Infinite Journey,” Pastor Andrew Davis has written about the lifelong process of sanctification: “the internal journey of an individual Christian from being dead in sin to gloriously perfect in Christ.” Davis argues from scripture that sanctification occurs in a cycle. “Growing knowledge increases faith, increasing faith transforms character, transformed character produces action, and action feeds knowledge.” Men and women (high school and above) will meet together for the first two weeks of this class and then split in order to discuss the second half of Davis’ book which addresses specific areas in need of growth in the Christian’s life: purity from sin, worship, spiritual disciplines, family relationships, etc. Reading the book is encouraged but not required to participate in this class. Copies can be purchased for $10.
