Learning at Grace

Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.
1 Tim. 4:16
In 2 Timothy 3:14–17, Paul encourages Timothy by saying…

“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

We believe this encouragement is true for all of us today, too. We are to continue in what we have learned. This isn’t a journey that ends. From the day we are born again in Christ to the day we die, we are to continue in what we have learned and believed, growing in our faith and pressing on “toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

The primary way in which we do this is by immersing ourselves in the Scriptures, which have been breathed out by God. As Paul says, they are “profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in  righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

Our goal here at Grace is to introduce people to Jesus, and then help them grow up to maturity in Him together. This is how we do it…

Our Learning Environments

Sunday Mornings

Worship Service - 10:30am
Our main gathering of the church each week is a God-centered time of corporate worship focused on:
Corporate praise through singing
Corporate prayer
The public reading of Scripture
Verse-by-verse expositional preaching

Though we occasionally feature topical sermons, our primary method of preaching is verse-by-verse expositional preaching through portions or whole books of the Bible. This furthers our understanding of God’s Word by considering the context, theme and flow of each book. This also helps us learn how to read the Bible for right interpretation and understanding. We also seek to understand the difference God’s Word makes in each of our daily lives.

Sunday School - 9:00am

Classes for all ages, toddlers to adults, help us grow together in our knowledge of God and His Word and develop into maturity. Our adult classes center on God and His Word, with an emphasis on understanding how our faith relates to everyday life’s circumstances. Classes vary throughout the year.

New Testament Survey
This class will provide a bird’s eye view of the New Testament, looking at how it’s constructed, the different genres of literature, and how each book fits into the overall message of the Bible.  We’ll also look at the key aspects and themes of each book individually, giving us important insight and understanding which will inform our Bible reading and study.
(Location: Upper Fellowship Room)

Foundations of Grace
In this class we will cover some of the foundational aspects of church life here at Grace Bible Church, including an overview of our statement of faith, doctrinal distinctives, key aspects of church life & fellowship, and more.  This class is ideal for anyone who is relatively new to GBC and looking for a better understanding of who we are and what we do, and will also serve as a membership class for those looking to become members this Fall.

"The Titus Ten: Foundations for Godly Manhood" - Men's Study
"None of us is naturally a godly man.  That's something we have to learn, pursue, and cultivate. This book study provides guidance for becoming the kind of man God intends for you to be, and leading other men to do the same.  Taking ten qualities from the Apostle Paul's short letter to his mentee Titus, The Titus Ten will help you grow in your understanding of the gospel, your identity, your character, your doctrine, and more."  Men are invited to engage on one of three levels: show up to the class, read the book in addition to the class, or purchase an accompanying devotional to work on at home in addition to the class and the book.
